First I was surprised how hard it was to buy a good quality basic Hoe. I looked at all the ones at the hardware stores and just didn’t like the quality. When I looked at the ones with the wooden handles that have a hole drilled in the end for the metal hoe shaft to insert into, I could see the wood had already cracked around the metal shaft, so failure is likely. And when they do fail, being a DIY kind of guy, I thought it would be difficult to fix as it seems to just be a design weakness.
It took a bit of searching to find this Bully Tools hoe and I am happy with my purchase. Its a nice and solid piece. With the hoe mounting around the handle start, If the shaft did break, I think it would be easy to fix or replace with a wooden handle. My only complaint is that it was very blunt when it arrived. But I can see that being by design to save injury and possible resulting legal actions if any one was injured during shipping and handling.
